The New Brighton Residents Association is proud to host several events each year. These events are free to attend and open to all New Brighton residents (in good standing). Due to space constraints, some events require RSVP.

Calgary Public Library Storytime

Spend the morning with the Calgary Public Library listening to stories and singing songs that the whole family can enjoy! Great for ages 0-5 years! The book truck will also be on site during these mornings from 10am - 12pm. Everyone is welcome for this free drop in!

Tot Time

Bring your little ones and join a fun morning of socialization and unstructured free play all while parents enjoy coffee and great company! Last session for the season! Tot Time will return September 11th.

Seniors Club

The NBRA is excited to host the New Brighton Seniors Club, offering a variety of different activities including cards, crafts, games, great conversation and so much more. Spend your time enjoying new activities, meeting new friends, and exploring everything that the NBRA has to offer. **Last session for the season** Seniors Club will resume September 12th**

Chess Club

The NBRA is excited to offer monthly chess club! Challenge your neighbours to a friendly competition of skill and wit. Boards and snacks will be provided for a $2 drop in fee; making this the perfect night out for those who know the game and those interested in learning!  

Theatre in the Clubhouse - WIN the WARRIOR

Join us at the Clubhouse for a live performance of WIN the WARRIOR by the GP Family Theatre! Win The Warrior: A King Arthur Tale. After her video production camp is cancelled, eleven-year-old Win (short for Arwin) is stuck on a very boring research trip to Europe with her dad. Days are filled with ruins, ruins, and more ruins until Win starts imagining the heroic life of King Arthur. But can Win's imaginings unearth the real truth of these myths? $5/Family - Tickets sold in the office  

Babysitting Night

Babysitting (children must be potty trained) Want a night out without the kids? Let us look after your little ones while you enjoy some quality time. RSVP is required by emailing activities@nbra.ca Rate $10/first child, $7/second child, $5/ three + children  A light snack & drink will be offered during the evening. Please feel free to pack nut free snacks/drinks for your children should they need more. *please note:  Payment will be taken at time of booking.  

NBRA Beer Gardens

Kick off the summer with your neighbours and a couple of cold ones during the 5th Annual Beer Gardens within the tennis courts of the park on Saturday June 22nd from 6-10pm. Dance the night away as the DJ spins an array of new and favourite songs, try your hand with some trivia and games while you get to know new neighbours!  All participants must be 18+ to attend and ID will be REQUIRED at the entrance for EVERYBODY. Please note: this is a cash bar (atm is available in the Clubhouse) and all drinks will be sold for $5 each with last call being 9:30pm and all drinks to be consumed by 10pm. Food options are also available. Need a babysitter? There will be a movie night within the Banquet Room of the Clubhouse for the duration of the event. Kids are invited to enjoy the show(s) while parents enjoy the gardens. Entrance to this event is free of charge and is for members and their guests only. Good Food Box

The Good Food Box (GFB) is a program under the Community Kitchen Program of Calgary whereby you can purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at a very low cost. The Good Food Box is a hands-up program as opposed to hands-out. They offer all Calgarians’ sustainable access to nutritious food to ensure that no one has to go hungry. The boxes are put together and delivered by dedicated volunteers who along with The Community Kitchen desire to see individuals and families accessing affordable nutritious food. Canvas Creations (18+)

Come for a relaxing evening of creativity! Learn the technique behind different painting styles and get in touch with your inner artist while visiting with friends! Create your masterpiece from start to finish and take it home to show off your new skills. Drinks will be available for the duration of the workshop. *Note: 1st drink is included with program cost, additional drinks will be sold at a cost of $5 each at the cash bar.

Stampede Breakfast

Yee-haw!! Let’s dust off the boots and kick up your heels, its Stampede time again! On Saturday July 13th, 2019 from 9am to 12pm mosey on down to the Clubhouse to celebrate the “Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth.” Pancakes, Live Performers, Petting Zoo, Midway Games, Candy Bar, Chuck Races, Photo Booths and so much more are in store! This event is open to the public, so grab your friends and gallop on down to the New Brighton Residents Association for the best Stampede Breakfast in Cowtown! DIY Date Night (18+)

It’s date night, girls night, guys night and project night all combined into one great evening of “Do It Yourself”, offered by the NBRA once a quarter!  On Friday, April 19, 2019, participants will enjoy creating a 12”x12” string art masterpiece to decorate that special place. With a variety of templates, backdrop colours and many colours of string… the possibilities are truly endless! Although a variety of template options will be available, those who wish to come with a pre-selected silhouette of their choosing can do so, as we are able to print templates on the spot!  Instruction and all materials are provided.  Residents: $45/Non-Resident $60   Note: 1st drink is included with program cost, additional drinks will be sold at a cost of $5 each at the cash bar*     

Hollywood Stars DJ Splash Party

Let’s get the party started! This summer the NBRA and “Send It Entertainment” are excited to host DJ Splash Parties again in July and August! It’s Hollywood Stars Day on Sunday July 28th from 1-3pm. Walk the red carpet to display your Hollywood star while the DJ turns up the volume on games, laughs, dancing and splashing the day away! National India Independence Day

The New Brighton Residents Association is excited to celebrate a different cultural holiday each year. It’s National India Independence Day at the Clubhouse on Thursday August 15th from 5-8pm! Experience the traditions celebrated, enjoy the food and get a henna tattoo! This event is free of charge for members and their friends, however; space is limited. Therefore, RSVP is required. Pirates at Play DJ Splash Party

Let’s get the party started! This summer the NBRA and “Send It Entertainment” are excited to host DJ Splash Parties again in July and August! Comedy in the Clubhouse

It is: Date Night Girls Night Boys Night Or just a fun night out. On Saturday, September 21st from 7-9:30pm the NBRA will be hosting the 2nd Annual Comedy in the Clubhouse night! Join local comedians as they take the stage for an evening that is sure to have you laughing so hard your sides hurt! Drinks and appies will be on site to make it the perfect night out. Tickets are on sale now for $10 each, this includes entrance to the show and appies. Drinks will be sold for $5 each Doors open at 7pm and the comedians hit the stage at 7:30pm All participants must be 18+ to attend and ID will be REQUIRED at the entrance for EVERYBODY. Please note: This is a cash bar (atm is available in the Clubhouse) and all drinks will be sold for $5 each with last call being 9pm and all drinks to be consumed by 9:30pm. Need a babysitter? Halloween Spooktacular

Double, double toil and trouble; fire burn and caldron bubble. This all hallows eve from 5-8pm the Clubhouse is the place to be for a photo and a chuckle.  This event is free of charge for members and their friends, however; space is limited. Frighton Up Your Home

As the eerie, creepy and most frightening night of the year approaches, ghouls and goblins aren’t the only ones getting dressed up. Terrifying decorations and haunting effects make their way onto the houses of New Brighton, making it the most frightening community in the SE. The NBRA is excited to be bringing back Frighton Up Your Home for the spookiest of the spooky homes. Prizes will be awarded for: The Spookiest Home The Most Haunted House The Most Creative Home Submit a picture of your home including your address and preferred time for the judges to check out your decorations (5-6:30pm or 6:30-8pm) to recreation@nbra.ca before the cut off on October 28th, 2019 at noon. A map will be created of all the spooky homes in the community and displayed on the Clubhouse’s Facebook page / newbrightonclub for all to see!
