The New Brighton Residents Association is proud to host several events each year. These events are free to attend and open to all New Brighton residents (in good standing). Due to space constraints, some events require RSVP.

Movie in the Clubhouse

Join the NBRA every month for an exciting evening of family fun with movies curated for our wonderful New Brighton families! Indulge in freshly popped theater style popcorn, pop, and a hit movie, all for the low price of $5 for the entire family! The Clubhouse offers a cozy space for the kids to get comfortable and plenty of seating for parents to sit back and relax. Come in and enjoy the surround sound system that fills the room! Check out the website and Facebook pages to find each month’s movie. Show starts at 7:00! Get ready to spend a great evening with your family and most importantly, enjoy the show!        

Something to Wine About (18+)

Seton Highlander Wine & Spirits will be on site to educate participants on wines with a common theme! Experience 6 different wines (3 red, 3 white), while enjoying some palate cleansing snacks. Participants will discover the history of the vineyards used, the hues in the wine, and price points of each bottle. Fee includes samples of 6 different wines. Should you find a new favorite, orders for bottles can be made during the workshop to be picked up at Highlander at a later time.      

Babysitting Night

Babysitting (children must be potty trained) Want a night out without the kids? Let us look after your little ones while you enjoy some quality time. RSVP is required by emailing activities@nbra.ca Rate $10/first child, $7/second child, $5/ three + children  A light snack & drink will be offered during the evening. Please feel free to pack nut free snacks/drinks for your children should they need more. *please note:  Payment will be taken at time of booking.  

Pirates at Play DJ Splash Party

Let’s get the party started! This summer the NBRA and “Send It Entertainment” are excited to host DJ Splash Parties again in July and August! Shiver me timbers its Pirates at Play on Sunday August 25th from 1-3pm. Do you have what it takes to walk the plank and find the missing treasure? The DJ will supply your soundtrack and maps in this adventurous splash park day. This event is free of charge for members and their friends, however; space is limited. Therefore, RSVP is required. Tween's Night Out (10-14yrs)

($2 drop in, includes snacks)        Let’s have some fun to the Clubhouse! Tweens and teens are invited to a night of games, competions & good times.  Doors open at 7pm so grab your friends and meet us there.

Seniors Club

The NBRA is excited to host the New Brighton Seniors Club, offering a variety of different activities including cards, crafts, games, great conversation and so much more. Spend your time enjoying new activities, meeting new friends, and exploring everything that the NBRA has to offer.

Canvas Creations (18+)

Come for a relaxing evening of creativity! Learn the technique behind different painting styles and get in touch with your inner artist while visiting with friends! Create your masterpiece from start to finish and take it home to show off your new skills. Drinks will be available for the duration of the workshop. *Note: 1st drink is included with program cost, additional drinks will be sold at a cost of $5 each at the cash bar.

Chess Club

The NBRA is excited to offer monthly chess club! Challenge your neighbours to a friendly competition of skill and wit. Boards and snacks will be provided for a $2 drop in fee; making this the perfect night out for those who know the game and those interested in learning!  

DIY Date Night (18+)

It’s date night, girls night, guys night and project night all combined into one great evening of “Do It Yourself”, offered by the NBRA once a quarter!  On Friday, September 20th,  2019, participants will enjoy creating a 12”x12” string art masterpiece to decorate that special place. With a variety of templates, backdrop colours and many colours of string… the possibilities are truly endless! Although a variety of template options will be available, those who wish to come with a pre-selected silhouette of their choosing can do so, as we are able to print templates on the spot!  Instruction and all materials are provided.  Residents: $45/Non-Resident $60   Note: 1st drink is included with program cost, additional drinks will be sold at a cost of $5 each at the cash bar*     

Comedy in the Clubhouse

It is: Date Night Girls Night Boys Night Or just a fun night out. On Saturday, September 21st from 7-9:30pm the NBRA will be hosting the 2nd Annual Comedy in the Clubhouse night! Join local comedians as they take the stage for an evening that is sure to have you laughing so hard your sides hurt! Drinks and appies will be on site to make it the perfect night out. Tickets are on sale now for $10 each, this includes entrance to the show and appies. Drinks will be sold for $5 each Doors open at 7pm and the comedians hit the stage at 7:30pm All participants must be 18+ to attend and ID will be REQUIRED at the entrance for EVERYBODY. Please note: This is a cash bar (atm is available in the Clubhouse) and all drinks will be sold for $5 each with last call being 9pm and all drinks to be consumed by 9:30pm. Need a babysitter? There will be a movie night within the Studio Room of the Clubhouse for the duration of the event. This event is for members and their guests only. Good Food Box

The Good Food Box (GFB) is a program under the Community Kitchen Program of Calgary whereby you can purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at a very low cost. The Good Food Box is a hands-up program as opposed to hands-out. They offer all Calgarians’ sustainable access to nutritious food to ensure that no one has to go hungry. The boxes are put together and delivered by dedicated volunteers who along with The Community Kitchen desire to see individuals and families accessing affordable nutritious food. Halloween Spooktacular

Double, double toil and trouble; fire burn and caldron bubble. This all hallows eve from 5-8pm the Clubhouse is the place to be for a photo and a chuckle.  This event is free of charge for members and their friends, however; space is limited. Jr. Canvas Creations

Come for a morning of painting and fun! Children let their imaginations run wild while creating a masterpiece to bring home to show off. *Note: chocolate milk & cookies are included with program fee* Residents: $25 / Non-Residents: $35  

Teen Canvas Creations

Gather friends together for a fun afternoon of creating & painting in this workshop tailored for teens. The instructor will review different styles and techniques used to make a masterpiece. Grab some pals and head to the Clubhouse for a fun afternoon being inspired. *Note: drinks & a snack are included with program fee* Residents: $25 / Non-Residents: $35

Frighton Up Your Home

As the eerie, creepy and most frightening night of the year approaches, ghouls and goblins aren’t the only ones getting dressed up. Terrifying decorations and haunting effects make their way onto the houses of New Brighton, making it the most frightening community in the SE. The NBRA is excited to be bringing back Frighton Up Your Home for the spookiest of the spooky homes. Prizes will be awarded for: The Spookiest Home The Most Haunted House The Most Creative Home Submit a picture of your home including your address and preferred time for the judges to check out your decorations (5-6:30pm or 6:30-8pm) to recreation@nbra.ca before the cut off on October 28th, 2019 at noon. A map will be created of all the spooky homes in the community and displayed on the Clubhouse’s Facebook page / newbrightonclub for all to see!
