The New Brighton Residents Association is proud to host several events each year. These events are free to attend and open to all New Brighton residents (in good standing). Due to space constraints, some events require RSVP.

Seniors Club

The NBRA is excited to host the New Brighton Seniors Club, offering a variety of different activities including cards, crafts, games, great conversation and so much more. Spend your time enjoying new activities, meeting new friends, and exploring everything that the NBRA has to offer.

Bring your little ones and join a fun morning of socialization and unstructured free play all while parents enjoy coffee and great company!

Adult Chess Club (16+)

The NBRA is excited to offer monthly Adult Chess Club! Challenge your neighbours to a friendly competition of skill and wit. Boards and snacks will be provided for a $2 drop in fee; making this the perfect night out for those who know the game and those interested in learning! *Please note this session is for participants 16+ years. The first Tuesday of the month we offer a children's Chess Club, where parents can share in their love of the game!  

Babysitting Night

Babysitting (children must be potty trained) Want a night out without the kids? Let us look after your little ones while you enjoy some quality time. Registration is required by registering online (My Programs, Workshops) https://www.newbrighton-connect.com/my-programs/program.html?program=73396, visiting the front desk or by calling 403-781-6613 ext 1 Rate $10/child A light snack & drink will be offered during the evening. Please feel free to pack nut free snacks/drinks for your children should they need more. *please note:  Payment will be taken at time of booking.  

Calgary Public Library Storytime

Spend the morning with the Calgary Public Library listening to stories and singing songs that the whole family can enjoy! Great for ages 0-5 years! Everyone is welcome for this free drop in!

Flu Shot Clinic

London Drugs Pharmacy will be onsite from 4pm-9pm administering Flu Shots. Please note the following... *Alberta Health Card & proof of ID must be presented at appointment **Pharmacists can only vaccinate Albertans 5 years and older Call the office at 403-781-6613 to book your appointment, walkins also welcome.

Movie in the Clubhouse

Join the NBRA every month for an exciting evening of family fun with movies curated for our wonderful New Brighton families! Indulge in freshly popped theater style popcorn, pop, and a hit movie, all for the low price of $5 for the entire family! The Clubhouse offers a cozy space for the kids to get comfortable and plenty of seating for parents to sit back and relax. Come in and enjoy the surround sound system that fills the room! Check out the website and Facebook pages to find each month’s movie. Show starts at 7:00! Get ready to spend a great evening with your family and most importantly, enjoy the show!        

Halloween Spooktacular

Double, double toil and trouble; fire burn and caldron bubble. This all hallows eve from 5-8pm the Clubhouse is the place to be for a photo and a chuckle.  This event is free of charge for members and their friends, however; space is limited. Jr. Canvas Creations

Come for a morning of painting and fun! Children let their imaginations run wild while creating a masterpiece to bring home to show off. *Note: chocolate milk & cookies are included with program fee* Residents: $25 / Non-Residents: $35  

Teen Canvas Creations

Gather friends together for a fun afternoon of creating & painting in this workshop tailored for teens. The instructor will review different styles and techniques used to make a masterpiece. Grab some pals and head to the Clubhouse for a fun afternoon being inspired. *Note: drinks & a snack are included with program fee* Residents: $25 / Non-Residents: $35

Frighton Up Your Home

As the eerie, creepy and most frightening night of the year approaches, ghouls and goblins aren’t the only ones getting dressed up. Terrifying decorations and haunting effects make their way onto the houses of New Brighton, making it the most frightening community in the S.E! The NBRA is excited to be bringing back Frighten Up Your Home so the spookiest of the spooky homes will be seen! Submit a picture of your home, including your address and preferred time for the judges to check out your decorations (Anytime between 5pm-7pm) to recreation@nbra.ca before the cut off on October 25th, 2019 at noon. A map will be created of all the spooky homes in the community and publisher on our Facebook page, newbrightonclub for all to see! Prizes will be awarded to the top placed home in each category! Tween's Night Out (10-14yrs)

($2 drop in, includes snacks)        Let’s have some fun to the Clubhouse! Tweens and teens are invited to a night of games, competitions & good times.  Doors open at 7pm so grab your friends and meet us there.  

Good Food Box

The Good Food Box (GFB) is a program under the Community Kitchen Program of Calgary whereby you can purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at a very low cost. The Good Food Box is a hands-up program as opposed to hands-out. They offer all Calgarians’ sustainable access to nutritious food to ensure that no one has to go hungry. The boxes are put together and delivered by dedicated volunteers who along with The Community Kitchen desire to see individuals and families accessing affordable nutritious food. Children's Chess Club (5-11 yrs)

The NBRA is excited to offer monthly Children's Chess Club! Parents, bring your children out and show them your love of the game! Boards and snacks will be provided for a $2 drop in fee *Please note this session is for participants 5-11 years, and parent attendance is required.  

Canvas Creations (18+)

Come for a relaxing evening of creativity! Learn the technique behind different painting styles and get in touch with your inner artist while visiting with friends! Create your masterpiece from start to finish and take it home to show off your new skills. Drinks will be available for the duration of the workshop. *Note: 1st drink is included with program cost, additional drinks will be sold at a cost of $5 each at the cash bar.

Something to Wine About (18+)

Seton Highlander Wine & Spirits will be on site to educate participants on wines with a common theme! Experience 6 different wines (3 red, 3 white), while enjoying some palate cleansing snacks. Participants will discover the history of the vineyards used, the hues in the wine, and price points of each bottle. Fee includes samples of 6 different wines. Should you find a new favorite, orders for bottles can be made during the workshop to be picked up at Highlander at a later time.
